Our Story

We are Southern California's premier historical  photography studio dedicated to the preservation of wet-plate photography. The wet-plate process was the height of photographic technology during the latter-half of the 19th century. Wet-Plate photography is ideal for boudoir photography as each picture is a unique piece of art with no negative or digital file unless desired. You have complete control over the image.

Our Victorian-themed photographic parlour is designed to provide a relaxed environment where you can take your time and have your portrait taken in a variety of sizes and on a variety of materials. There is also a private changing room and numerous props, drapes and veils to use in your boudoir session.

Experience and Artistry

Having a background in photography rooted in film, making the transition to wet-plate photography was natural. Wanting to preserve the tradition that dates back to 1852, Valorie became one of a handful of people in the world who still practice tintype photography.

Together, Valorie and James create one-of-a-kind photographs using the same equipment, chemicals and techniques that were in-use during the latter-half of the 19th century.
Chemistry and History

A love of the technology and history of the Victorian period attracted James to entering the darkroom of a wet-plate photographer.
